Happy Birthday, Bob!

I have just been informed by my youngest that today is Bob Dylan's birthday.
She is quite enamored by Dylan right now. Or rather the Dylan of the 60's...she thinks he was cute then. She gets all squealy over pics of him during the early 60's as she does over pics of the latest pre-teen crush, Jesse McCartney.
If she ever saw a pic of Bob Dylan, as he is now, she would freak right out. The guy ain't aging well.
So how does she plan to commerate the day? Might get some ideas here.

Did you ever see the Dylan films made in England during some of his first tours? These cable rock music channels occasionally play them. But anyway he's absolutely raving and incomprehensible .... the very definition of a rebel without a cause or brain. But my guess is that Dylan is actually a republican now. i have no evidence for that.

Strangely enough, Walker, in that big 2 part documentary about Dylan that was on PBS awhile back there had a clip of an interview he gave back in those days where he denounced how the Left had embraced him as their poster boy. He was really disgusted with how they had latched on to his songs, labeling them 'protest anthems'. True, he may have gone along with the usual hippy crap back then but to see him express distain for the Lefties back then was a surprize!

I never knew he did that, WTR. "Denounced how the Left had embraced him as their poster boy," I mean. But then I never really got into Bob Dylan's music, and never really was very interested in any of the stars private lives. That's just me.

I am surprised however, that your youngest is enamoured with him. I have to wonder how that came to pass? Mine is 18 and isn't interested in anyone who was alive before 1980! :)

Gayle, I grew up in California in the 60's and had an older brother who was a musician & part time beach bum, so right about 1965 or so Dylan was all he was playing on the stereo. That's how I got hip to him. To a little kid some of his lyrics were quite funny.

Anyhow, I was watching that documentary when my youngest wandered in and asked "who's that guy?" I told her and then she said "He's kinda cute!"
Floored me, since I always considered him to be somewhat homely. She stuck around and watched most of it with me until her bedtime. And that was it. For Christmas her 'Santa list' specifically mentioned Bob Dylan cd's!
So the fault lays with me. : )
